specifically the console and seating layouts (including placement and type of hybrid seating in t6 ships) as well as the special mechanics associated with ship "type" that you mentioned (such as pilot maneuvers). I find the ship has a lot to do with overall performance. Everything else comes from your equipment, weapons, consoles, traits, boffs, doffs, etc. base speed/hull, traits, specials like Intel/Command/Pilot).
